Eligibility Criteria of the WIPO Global Awards 2025 in Geneva:
For SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises): The program is open to SMEs from any of WIPO’s 193 member countries that meet these conditions:
- The business must be legally registered, with proof of registration.
- It should have no more than 300 employees and an annual revenue of up to $15 million USD.
- The SME must own at least one registered Intellectual Property (IP) right.
- The business must export its products or services to at least one other country.
For Startups: Startups from any of WIPO’s 193 member countries can apply if they meet these requirements:
- The startup must be legally registered and have been operating for no more than three years.
- It should employ no more than 50 people.
- The startup must have an innovative product or service linked to IP rights.
- It must either own at least one registered IP right or have applied for one.
- The startup must be associated with a business support organization like an incubator or accelerator, with proof of this affiliation.
- It must have a commercial customer, completed a business sale, or secured an investor.

Submission Process for WIPO Awards 2025:
- Each participant can submit only one application, either in the SME or startup category.
- Entries must be submitted in one of the six UN official languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) or Japanese, using the online application form.
- Participants must explain how they are using intellectual property (IP) to sell their products or services regionally or internationally. They also need to describe the economic, social, or cultural impact of their work. Startups must include details about their IP commercialization plans.
- WIPO can disqualify entries that do not follow the rules, seem fraudulent, or harm WIPO’s reputation.
- WIPO values your privacy and will handle your personal information according to its Privacy Policy.
