With the goal of encouraging young minds to explore creative ideas and solutions to anti-corruption challenges, the Global Resource for Anti-Corruption Education and Youth Empowerment (GRACE) is thrilled to announce an online International Essay Writing Competition on Integrity, Ethics, and Anti-Corruption.
This is an invitation to young people who are interested in preventing corruption, to submit an essay explaining how corruption affects them, their family, and/or their community, along with what civil society in their nation or region is doing to stop and prevent corruption. By participating in this UNODC / GRACE Essay Writing Competition, you will be part of the first group of youth working to actively implement the recently launched “Roadmap to strengthening the role of nongovernmental actors in the fight against corruption,” which was presented to the States parties to the UN Convention Against Corruption in December 2023. Young people are provided with a wonderful chance to brainstorm ideas and come up with innovative and practical ideas which can contribute in reducing corruption globally.
The winners of this essay contest from each region will get an invitation to a youth anti-corruption workshop in Vienna, where they will interact with young people from all around the globe to talk about the role that youth can play in preventing corruption and to share ideas on the most effective ways to put the roadmap into action. Roadmap ideas are related to providing support to victims of corruption, encouraging greater youth to participate in decision-making processes, enlisting resources to strengthen the involvement of youth in anti-corruption initiatives, educating the public about corruption while investing in coalition building, and encouraging youth-led research, education, and innovation.

Eligibility Criteria for International Essay Writing Competition 2024:
- Participants should be between the age of 18 to 30 years old.
- Participants should follow all the instructions of the competition.
- The content should be original and not copied from other sources.
- Submit your entry before the deadline.
How to apply for Essay Writing Competition 2024L
- Participants have to write an essay in English which should not be more than 3 pages where they have to briefly describe the current situation on corruption in their country and also describe what their government, civil society organizations, and/or individuals are doing to control corruption.
- Participants have to share their personal experience how corruption affects them, and/or members of their family and/or their community.
- Participants have to describe an initiative that is already being taken in their community to prevent corruption.
- Participants will gain extra scores if they can create a link between this initiative to the roadmap ideas.
- Shortlisted applicants will have to record and submit a short video of 2 minutes in which they have to introduce themselves and briefly explain the main ideas of their essay writings.
Documents Required for UNODC Essay Competition:
- National Identity Card and Valid Passport for traveling to Vienna.
- Any other supporting documents are needed to travel to a foreign country.
