The UCAS International Summer School (UCASISS) 2025 is a funded program for international students passionate about Earth Science. Organized by the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), this year’s theme is “Earth Science for a Shared Future.” This summer internship offers young talents a unique opportunity to experience graduate-level education in China and engage in scientific discussions around sustainability, climate change, and global environmental challenges.
UCASISS 2025 is jointly hosted by the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations (ANSO) and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU). It promotes Open Science by making scientific research more inclusive and accessible. Participants will learn from top researchers at UCAS and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) institutes, gaining hands-on exposure to world-class research, state-of-the-art laboratories, and collaborative problem-solving on some of the planet’s most pressing issues.
The UCAS summer program includes two parts: a 7-day online coursework segment from June 25 to July 1, 2025, and a 7-day onsite research project from July 5 to July 11, 2025. The online courses will be held via Zoom and are open on a first-come, first-served basis. For the onsite part, applicants must choose one host institution while applying. Detailed schedules will be shared with selected participants by May 31, 2025.
UCASISS offers an incredible opportunity to expand academic knowledge, develop research skills, and connect with like-minded individuals from around the globe. In addition to academic learning, participants will experience Chinese culture and explore scientific collaboration in a diverse and supportive environment. Whether you’re aiming for a research career or looking to make an impact in Earth Science, this program is your gateway to a global scientific community.
