Border Lab Summer School in Kyrgyzstan is designed for Early Career Researcher (ECR) working in different areas of social sciences, humanities, or other related fields. Participants have be engaged in Asia or Europe on border-related research. With the guidance of experts and professionals from different regions, participants will be able to examine border theories and concepts. This program is an excellent opportunity for researchers to participate in a fully funded summer school, gaining valuable insights and academic growth without financial barriers.

Border lab Summer School for international scholars invites researchers to participate in a week-long program of classes, discussions, seminars, workshops and site visits. The goal of the Eur-Asian Border Lab is to test theoretical concepts in a variety of real contexts and use knowledge from academically border regions to the core of analyzing borders studies. The main objective of this international summer school is to promote interaction and transfer of theoretical and methodological knowledge to individuals who work on various areas and domains of border studies.

This summer program will invite experienced professionals from three prestigious European Universities who have already researched on borders in Central Asia and other regions. They will share their knowledge and experiences about some of the latest approaches and outcomes in border studies. Joining like-minded people from around the globe to exchange ideas and opinions on their ongoing research projects will be helpful for scholars.

Eligibility Criteria for Border Lab Summer School in Kyrgyzstan 2025:

  • Individuals having PhDs, Postdocs, or scholars in the humanities and social sciences fields working on border-related topics are eligible to apply.
  • MA students and advanced undergraduates can be considered separately.
  • Applicants should have advanced level English proficiency.
  • Candidates from underrepresented regions, minority groups, and diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
