The Wang Gungwu Fellowship in Singapore invites young scholars and policymakers to explore big-power relations and their influence on Southeast Asia. This fully funded fellowship will require fellows to contribute to ISEAS Perspective and ISEAS Fulcrum publications in their relevant research areas. Fellows will get a chance to present their research findings during a seminar. Wang Gungwu Visiting Fellows (WGWVF) will also join a network of regional researchers where they can contribute to ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute after completing their fellowship in Singapore.
During this international fellowship program, discussions will be carried out through policy research in a diverse range of areas. These research areas include “the relationship between the US and China and its impact on Southeast Asia, security challenges in the Asia Pacific, growth prospects of global and regional economic cooperation initiatives, the rise of China and its influence on Southeast Asian societies, and the use of digital technology by countries to advance their interests and influence perceptions in Southeast Asian countries.”
Through this research fellowship program in Singapore, ISEAS aims to support scholars who are passionate about conducting research on various challenges related to stability, security, and economic development. The institute will provide a platform to conduct research and increase public awareness of the Southeast Asian region. It will also provide support in finding practical solutions to the challenges faced by the region. The Wang Gungwu Fellowship 2027 is intended for postdoctoral researchers and mid-career policymakers. They can complete their projects during this 2–6 month residential fellowship.
