Applications are now open for the UCL EPSRC Landscape Award (UELA) in UK. The fully funded PhD studentship invites both Home and International students for a four-year program in UK. Along with covering tuition fees, the PhD program will provide an annual maintenance stipend of  £23,466 for the first year, which will increase each year. Moreover, scholars will receive a Research Training Support Grant (RTSG), to help cover additional costs of training courses, project costs, conferences, and travelling. The international PhD research program will bring together outstanding researchers who have potential to excel in their fields.

These projects are offered in diverse research themes including Advanced Materials, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Circular Economy, Digital Security and Resilience, Energy and Decarbonization, Engineering, Healthcare Technologies, Information and Communication Technologies, Manufacturing The Future, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Quantum Technologies. Students selecting to work on collaborative projects will get a chance to work at partner organization’s location as well, along with working in the host institute- UCL.   • An official fee status assessment is required to determine whether the student will be in Home or International category.

  • EU nationals with settled status.
  • EU nationals with pre-settled status meeting the residency requirements.

How to apply for UCL EPSRC Landscape Award (UELA) in UK?

  • The application has 4 parts.

Part A:

  • Fill out the application form including your personal data.
  • Mention your intended study mode (full time or part time).
  • Mention how did you know about this opportunity.
  • Provide the details of 2 referees including their name, institution/organisation, and email address.
  • Submit your form.
  • After submitting the form, you will receive an email having your “Applicant ID” and personalized links for parts B and C of your application.
  • Candidates should use these to apply for next parts.

Part B:

  • Complete the online form using the link sent on your email address.
  • The form includes an online template for CV.
  • Provide the required information including transcript details, work experience, other achievements, and details of research projects/experience.
  • International candidates should provide their UK degree equivalency.

Part C:

  • Applicants should complete this online form for each project they are applying to using the same link.
  • This form includes questions to assess candidate’s aptitude, suitability, and motivation for doctoral study and the specific project.

Part D:

  • Individuals nominated as referees in the application form will receive an email from the UELA.
  • They are required to comment on the applicant’s skills including critical thinking, independent and collaborative work, written and oral communication skills, ability to organise workload, and Data analysis.
  • Parts B, C and D of the application will be sent to the host department of the project, who will then review forms and shortlist the candidates for interview.
