Eligibility Criteria of Commonwealth PhD Scholarships 2027-28:
- An applicant must be a citizen of or a refugee of an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
- An applicant must be a permanent resident of an eligible Commonwealth country.
- An applicant must be available for study in the UK by the beginning of the UK academic calendar, i.e., September 2027.
- A candidate must possess a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honours standard, or a lower second-class (2:2) degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification, usually a Master’s degree, by September 2027.
- A candidate must not be registered for an MPhil leading to a PhD or a PhD degree at a UK university or in their home country before September/October 2026.
- An applicant must provide evidence that they might not otherwise afford to study in the UK.
- An applicant must have provided all the necessary documents in the required format.
- There is no age limit for CSC applications.
- If a candidate has a disability, additional financial support may be provided after a full assessment of their needs and eligibility.
