The CNIO Summer Training Program 2026 in Spain is offered to students from all over the world who are interested in pursuing a career in research. This international summer research internship in Spain will take place from June 29 to August 21, 2026. There is no application fee and no IELTS requirement to apply for this program. The mission of the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) is to develop innovative and effective ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. The CNIO summer student program promotes equal access for all candidates and does not discriminate on the basis of gender, family status, economic situation, social status, disability, race, nationality, language, or political and ideological views.
The CNIO training program for undergraduate students will last 8 weeks and will include 300 working hours. Due to the intensive nature of the program, students must participate actively in all activities with full-time commitment. During this international summer research internship in Spain, each student will work under the supervision of a research group leader. Participants will also attend weekly seminars where CNIO faculty members and researchers will deliver lectures. At the end of the program, students will present the results and findings of their research projects in a special session organized by the centre.
The scientific research areas offered during this summer internship for international students include Molecular Oncology, Structural Biology, Human Cancer Genetics, Clinical Research, Biotechnology, Experimental Therapeutics, and Biobank. The program focuses on understanding cancer through advanced research and a patient-oriented approach. Researchers study how cancer develops and transform their findings into real-world solutions such as diagnostic tools, new medicines, and innovative therapies. Students who successfully complete this summer training program in Spain will receive an official certificate from CNIO.
