Benefits and Financial Support ADB-Japan Scholarship Program (JSP):
- The scholarship pays 100% of your tuition fees so you study for free.
- You receive a monthly cash allowance that covers your housing, food, and daily expenses.
- You get a free economy class flight ticket to the university when you start and a ticket back home when you finish.
- You receive an allowance to pay for your books and instructional materials.
- Your medical and accident insurance is fully covered during your studies.
- You may receive a special grant for thesis preparation if your course involves research.
- Please note that this funding covers only you and does not pay for your spouse or children.
Eligiblity Criteria of the ADB-Japan Scholarship Program (JSP):
- You must be a citizen of an ADB borrowing member country to apply.
- You need to have a Bachelor’s degree with excellent grades.
- You must have at least two years of full-time professional work experience after finishing your degree.
- You must be under 35 years old at the time of application.
- You have to agree to return to your home country for at least two years after you graduate.
- You must be in good health to complete the program.
- You cannot apply if you hold dual citizenship with a developed country.
- You generally cannot apply if you already have a Master’s degree or are currently studying for one.
- You cannot apply if you have close relatives working at the ADB.
Applciation Process of the ADB-Japan Scholarship Program (JSP):
- First, look at the list of host universities and choose the course you want to study.
- Visit the official website of that university to download their application form and the ADB-JSP Information Sheet.
- Gather your required documents, including your degree transcripts, a certificate of your two years of work experience, and proof of your income.
- Send your completed application and all documents directly to the university, not to the ADB office.
- Make sure to mention on your form that you want to be considered for the ADB-Japan Scholarship.
- The university will review your application and send the best candidates to ADB for the final decision.
- If you are selected, the university will contact you directly with the scholarship offer.
