The Youth Innovation Challenge (YIC) is an exciting opportunity for young people to propose unique solutions for preserving marine resources. So, if you have a brilliant idea to protect marine resources and solve related issues then, YIC wants to hear from you. 3 winners of this global youth competition 2025 will receive a cash prize of $1,000 USD. 15 YIC finalists including the 3 winners will get recognition on GEEP, NAAEE and other online platforms. Finalists will also receive a Youth Innovation Challenge certificate.
Along with receiving a cash prize, 3 selected winners will also get a chance to attend fully funded YIC award ceremony in Taiwan. The ceremony will take place in October 2025 and all the travel related expenses will be covered by the host organisation. For YIC international innovation competition, individuals can choose to apply an existing approach to a new environmental issue. Or, they can propose something totally new. This is a change for youth to think out of the box and come up with unique solutions.
GEEP believes that issues related to marine ecosystem can be solved through collaboration, education, science, and innovation. The proposed solution should be aligned with key areas including “Marine biodiversity and conservation, Marine debris, or Public-private collaboration”, and share include the environmental education (EE) aspect. In this youth innovation contest, participants can either apply individually or as a team. They just have to ensure that their proposal is feasible, innovative, and informed by research.
