Wonju UNESCO City of Literature Residency 2025 in South Korea

Wonju UNESCO City of Literature Residency 2025 is now accepting applications from writers for an 8-week residency program. The fully funded program will take place From 1 September-31 October, 2025 at the Toji Cultural Centre, South Korea. This international literary program is exclusively for writers who are connected to a City of Literature. During the residency program 2025, selected applicant will get a chance to work on their creative plan.

Almost 16-19 other writers and artists will be staying at the Cultural Centre. Residents will interact, build friendships, and learn from each other’s creative experiences. This short term residency program will provide a serene and peaceful environment where residents will have a memorable time. The organizers of UNESCO City of Literature residency program will look after all program-related expenses. These include air tickets, ground transportation, accommodation, work space, and delicious meals.

Now, you might be worried about participation or registration fee of the program. Rest assured, there isn’t any. Participation is absolutely free. You just have to bring your creative plan to the Centre. Applicants are encouraged to highlight their relevant awards, recognitions, and achievements to increase their chance of getting selected for this fully funded exchange program in South Korea. Eligibility Criteria for Wonju UNESCO City of Literature Residency 2025:

  • Applicants must have minimum B2 proficiency level in English language.
  • Applications must be connected to a City of Literature.
  • Writers and artists are welcome to apply.
  • Send your submissions before the deadline.

How to apply for Wonju UNESCO City of Literature Residency:

  • To submit your application, you have to write “about yourself, your literary works, awards, achievements, your literary world, your reason to come to Wonju, your creative plan to fulfill during residency, and how much you will contain Wonju experience in your new creative works”.
  • The word limit is 1000-2000 words.
  • The text font should be 12 pt.
  • Explain your connection to a City of Literature as well.
  • Applications should be sent through email to: wonjucityoflit@korea.kr before the deadline.
