Applications for the University of Hong Kong Summer Research Programme 2026 are opening soon. The University of Hong Kong is offering a 10-week intensive research training programme for outstanding international students who are interested in pursuing research postgraduate studies at HKU. This programme combines hands-on research training with networking opportunities and extra-curricular activities in an international academic environment.
Selected participants will receive one-to-one supervision from an eminent HKU professor, who will guide them in planning and carrying out an independent research project. The Programme Office helps match students with mentors based on their research interests and academic priorities. In addition, participants may attend lectures, seminars, and research-related activities designed to strengthen their academic and research skills.
The HKU Summer Research Program also focuses on professional development and academic exposure. Participants will work closely with faculty members, engage with fellow researchers from around the world, and may be eligible for scholarship support, travel and accommodation reimbursement, and performance-based awards, subject to programme conditions. High-performing participants may also be considered for a conditional offer of the HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship.
The programme begins with an opening session and concludes with research presentations and a closing ceremony. By the end of the programme, participants return home with advanced research experience, global academic exposure, and valuable connections that can support their future postgraduate and research careers.

- Air travel costs will be reimbursed up to HK$5,000 (on a reimbursement basis).

Eligibility Criteria for Hong Kong Summer Program 2026:
- Applicants must be outstanding undergraduate students who are currently in their 3rd or 4th year of study, or outstanding Master’s degree students from recognized institutions.
- Applicants should have a strong academic background and demonstrate interest in research postgraduate studies (Master’s or PhD).
- Previous research experience is preferred, but it is not mandatory.
- Applicants with an interest in interdisciplinary research are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants must have good English language proficiency, as the programme is conducted in English.
- All applicants are required to submit an online application and pay an application fee of HK$300
