There are two major residential volunteer programs. The UK Volunteer Trainee Instructor Program is for people living in the UK. The Residential Volunteer Program is open to applicants from the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. Each program has different criteria. Both programs provide volunteers with the opportunity to gain practical experience, develop new skills and work with young people at Scout Adventures centers.
Volunteers live on a Scout Adventures center and join an international community. Accommodation, food, uniform, training and a weekly allowance of £35 or £45 are provided, depending on the program. They also get practical experience working with young people. Scout Adventures also states that it can provide a Certificate of Sponsorship for the Residential Volunteer Program to qualifying overseas volunteers who need a visa.

Eligibility Criteria of the Scout Adventures Volunteer Program:
UK Volunteer Trainee Instructor Programme
- You must be 18 years old at the start of the placement.
- Applicants must be UK-based.
- You’ll need to be interested in outdoor activities and in learning new skills.
- The applicnats should be prepared to register for the entire program.
- Being a Scout, Guide or member of a youth organization is useful but not necessary.
- You should be able to commit around 35 hours a week to volunteer.

Residential Volunteer Programme
- Applications are accepted from UK, Europe and other countries.
- You must be 30 or under when the placement begins.
- Previous experience of Scouting and/or working with young people would be an advantage.
- You must have a good level of English.
- If you require a UK visa you must be 18 or over when you apply for your visa, around three months before training starts.
- You should be able to commit to around 35 hours a week
- The placement is for people. We do not accept partners, children or other family members.

UK Volunteer Trainee Instructor Programme

- Add a short 2 minute video of you introducing yourself.
- Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed online by the volunteering team.
Residential Volunteer Programme
- Fill out the online application form.
- Upload a reference letter from your school, university, employer or other appropriate referee.
- Upload a picture of yourself.
- Create a 2-minute introduction video.
- If you are a Scout or Guide at present, please provide confirmation of your membership.
- Successful applicants will be invited for an online interview of 15-20 minutes after the first review.
