RIFS Fellows Program is inviting individuals from around the world to join its research program in Germany. This fully funded fellowship is offered to participants from diverse sectors including science, public administration, private sector, civil society, media and arts. During the reserach fellowship, participants will collaborate with institute’s research groups and other fellow participants. They will work on innovative projects to increase sustainability transformation. The institute will provide a supportive environment and community during the fellowship.
The Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS) will offer both organizational and financial support to the fellows for carrying out their activities. Fellows will develop national and international networks during their research work. Before applying for this reserach program in Germany, applicants can contact researchers at RIFS to align their research proposals with the institute’s work. This will increase their chance of getting selected. During GFZ fellowship in Germany, participants will get a stipend amount according to their experience and family circumstances. The relocation and traveling expenses will be reimbursed. Fellows will get additional support in many other matters too.

Eligibility Criteria for RIFS Fellows Program in Germany 2026:
- Applications are welcome from people in all fields—science, government, business, civil society, media, the arts, and from everywhere in the world.
- Applicants from scientific background should have a PhD or equivalent experience before starting their fellowship.
- Non-academic applicants must have minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience in their selected field.
- The proposed research project should be relevant to one of the three Institute’s Research Themes.
- Applicants should select at least 1 Research Group they want to work wih the menioned themes.
