Applications for an exciting opportunity, the Kyoto University Amgen Scholars Program 2026 in Japan, are now open. The fully funded summer program will bring together both international and domestic scholars who are passionate about studying at Kyoto University. Beginning from June 5, 2026, the research program will run for 8 weeks in Kyoto, Japan. In addition to receiving a scholarship amount of 180,000 Yen, students will also get accommodation in Kyoto. On top of this, the travel expenses of the participants will also be covered.

Based on students’ interest, they will be assigned to research areas related to science and biotechnology. During the scholars program in Japan, participants will be supervised by a faculty member of Kyoto University. Along with conducting full-time research, students will also get a chance to participate in various educational activities and events. From attending seminars on relevant research areas to visiting laboratories, these activities will provide advanced research exposure to the students.

Moreover, the summer research program will help students to understand the opportunities in their relevant scientific careers. During the program, scholars will attend an in-person event “Amgen Scholars Asia Symposium” which will take place in Tokyo. At the end of Amgen research program for undergraduate students in Japan, there will be a poster session, providing participants an international forum to share their research projects with a larger audience. Benefits of Kyoto University Amgen Scholars Program 2026 in Japan:

  • The program will cover round trip travel cost of international participants (studying outside Japan).

Eligibility Criteria for Kyoto University Amgen Scholars Program in Japan:

  • Students from colleges and universities throughout Asia including Eastern, South-Eastern, Central, Southern and Western Asia are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants should currently be undergraduate students.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in colleges or universities in Asia that offer a bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants must have at least completed their first year of undergraduate study before starting the program.
  • Applicants must not be graduating before the program begins.
  • Applicants must continue their undergraduate studies for at least on semester or quarter, after completing this summer program.
  • Applicants must have excellent academic record.
  • Scholars must have excellent English language skills.
  • Candidates should have interest in doing a Ph.D.

  • Applicants have to apply through online application form.
  • First, create your account.
  • Then, sign up with your email address and password.
  • Fill out all the required information.
  • Provide your personal and contact details.
  • Write statement of purpose.
  • Provide the contact details of your recommenders.
  • Upload the required documents in PDF format.
  • Complete the application form and click “submit application”.
  • After submission, an e-mail will be sent to your recommenders. They will have to upload the recommendation letter files to a link before the deadline.
