Applications for KEK Summer Student Program 2025 in Japan are now open. KEK is one of the world’s top accelerator science research laboratories based in Japan. Its mission is to provide education and training to both national and international students. During this fully funded research program, participants will get a chance to carry out latest research through hands-on work at KEK Tsukuba or in J-PARC.
SOKENDAI KEK Tsukuba/J-PARC Summer Student Program for undergraduate and graduate students will be offered in the fields of Elementary Particle physics, Nuclear Physics, Material & life science, Accelerator science, Advanced Detection System Sensors/ Electronics/Computing), and Theory (computational methods in quantum field theory). Students can select a research project according to their educational background. This project will be helpful for them in their future research studies and careers.
During this international summer program, students will stay at Tokai campus or Tsukuba campus of KEK for 8 weeks. Research projects at Tokai will explore the beginning of universe and hidden matter in the fields of particle and nuclear physics, material and life science with the latest technologies in accelerators and other relevant fields. Research projects at Tsukuba are related to Belle II studies for the New Physics. Students of both the campuses will work on their research projects in a group setting under the supervision of highly qualified researchers.

Eligibility Criteria for KEK Summer Student Program 2025 in Japan:
- Students should be in latter half of undergraduate program or early part of graduate/Master course.
- PhD students are not eligible to apply.
- Both national and international students are eligible to apply.
- Must read all the details on official website before applying.
How to apply for KEK Summer Student Program in Japan 2025:
- First register your account by providing information in the form.
- After registration, ID numbers will be assigned to applicants.
- This ID number is the same as the reference number sent to you by email after registration.
- Registration form is available.
- Applicants have to email the documents at “kekssp-app[at]ml.post.kek.jp”.
- Write “[KEKSSP Application, ID=assigned ID number]” in the email.
