China Government Exchange Program is offered by The East, Central and Southern African Health Community (ECSA-HC) in collaboration with the Southern Medical University (SMU). This fully funded scholarship program in China will facilitate academic and professional exchange between China and participating countries. To ensure that participants are fully involved in the program, all costs including round-trip airfare, living costs, insurance, and accommodation will be covered.
ECSA-HC aims to promote and strengthen health care programs in the region. For this purpose, it has joined hands with Southern Medical University. Both the organisations will work together in multiple sectors including healthcare training, incorporating digital health services, research and policy involvement, and an exchange program. The initiative also focuses on the development of a joint regional centre for science, innovation and research.
The duration of student exchange program is 1 year. Selected scholars will get a chance to learn and work at a renowned public medical institute in China. During the research scholarship program, participants will focus on latest scientific research and healthcare training. They will be facilitated to bring innovation in health, science, and policy. Eligibility Criteria for China Government Exchange Program:
- Applicants should have nationality of an ECSA-HC member state. (Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Eswatini, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe)
- Applicants must be currently employed in their home country in scientific research or technology policy research.
- Candidates must have a PhD degree or minimum 5 years of experience in research.
- Applicants should have strong research potential.
- Candidates must be under 45 years old.
- Applicants should be in good health.
- Applicants must have good English or Chinese communication skills.
- Candidates should have not attended a China Ministry of Science and Technology exchange program in the last 3 years.
