The 24th Informal ASEM Human Rights Seminar 2026 is an international human rights seminar taking place in Mongolia. The funded seminar will gather government representatives, National Human Rights Institutions, academics, researchers, human rights practitioners, civil societies, and other international organisations from Asia and Europe. With no registration or participation fee, the human rights seminars is free to attend. Selected participants will get accommodation and meals during the program days.
The ASEM Human Rights Seminar is hosted by the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia in collaboration with Mongolia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is scheduled to take place from 12-14 October, 2026, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This year’s seminar theme is “The Future of Human Rights – From Local to Global”. During the seminar sessions, participants will discuss how ideas can be transformed into practical and realistic steps. They will become part of working groups formed for each level of human rights protection including global, regional, and local.
Followed by the international seminar, selected participants will attend a capacity-building training program from 15-16 October, 2026. Through this exclusive workshop, human rights advocates will polish their practical skills. After returning to their home regions, participants are expected to share the seminar recommendations within their networks and institutions. Eligibility Criteria for ASEM Human Rights Seminar 2026 in Mongolia:
- Applicants must be citizens of ASEM Partner countries from Asia and Europe.
- Candidates should have proficiency in English language.
- Applicants should have knowledge and be interested in human rights.
- Participants will either be selected through the official call of application or invited directly by the Co-organisers.
- The representatives of ASEM Partners’ Ministries or government agencies will be nominated by ASEM Partners.
- Candidates can be from National Human Rights Institutions, or relevant international, regional, or inter-governmental organisations.
- Individuals from the relevant private sector can also apply.
