The EPFL Life Sciences Summer Research Program in Switzerland 2026 has been announced for students seeking careers in biology, biophysics, bioengineering, bioinformatics, genetics, chemistry, quantitative biology, or other related life sciences fields. The duration of SRP 2026 is eight weeks, running from July 3rd to August 27th, 2026. The EPFL School of Life Sciences offers this program to help potential candidates worldwide develop their skills by exploring solutions to field specific challenges and working on advanced research projects.

The fully-funded summer fellowship program is available for everyone who is enrolled at the university level in the mentioned fields. 20-25 candidates participate each summer in the research program of Switzerland. They will get 8 weeks of lab experience during the tenure. They will get mentorship from faculty and scientific staff to complete their projects on time. Moreover, you will get the privilege of attending scientific seminars and personal development workshops. 

The EPFL summer school in Switzerland is considered a rich program, encompassing social activities of a day hike with BBQ and others. The participants will get the opportunity to be a part of ongoing research experience in EPFL lab. They will learn new techniques related to health issues. Their critical thinking towards the intricacies of their fields will be improved. 

Talking about EPFL was founded in 1969 as recognized as one of the youngest institutions of technology in the world with over 17000 students and employees making it a dynamic and bustling campus. The mode of communication for workshops, seminars, and lab classes will be in the English language. However, French or other languages can be used for informal communication among the fellows. Housing will be either in Lausanne or Geneva depending upon the availability of space.

Benefits of the EPFL Summer Research Program 2026:

  • Each student gets CHF 3,600 for two months to cover housing and living expenses.
  • Housing is pre-arranged and paid for from the stipend.
  • Students stay together in Lausanne, in single or double rooms, sharing kitchen and bathroom facilities with other SRP participants. Special housing requests are not possible.
  • Most travel costs to and from Switzerland are covered, with reimbursement of up to CHF 1,000 for overseas flights and CHF 500 for shorter distances.

Eligibility Criteria of the EPFL Life Sciences Summer Research Program in Switzerland:

  • You must have completed two years of bachelor’s degree and one year of Master’s degree.
  • You must be enrolled in any of the following fields at the university level: biology, biophysics, bioengineering, bioinformatics, genetic courses, chemistry, quantitative biology, or other related programs.
  • You must have maintained a GPA of 3.75 out of 4.0 or higher.
  • You must have completed a minimum of two years of work experience before the start of the program.
  • You must exhibit strong passion in pursuing a career in life sciences.
