The Commonwealth Fellowships 2027 in the UK will be offered in two categories for the session 2026-27. These fully funded programs in Uk include the current Professional Fellowship and a new Academic Fellowship category. These fellowships are designed exclusively for citizens of Commonwealth countries to spend time at an organisation in the UK. CSC aims to empower fellows so that they can have a developmental impact when they return to their home countries.
Professional Fellows program is offered to mid-career professionals while the Academic Fellows strand is intended for individuals who have done their PhD and are employed by a university. The Commonwealth fellowship is offered under diverse themes including Science and technology for development, Improving population health, health systems and capacity, Promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, Strengthening peace, security, resilience and response to crises, and inclusion.
Fellows of both categories will receive monthly allowance, return airfare, visa application fee reimbursement, and an arrival allowance. On top of this, they will be receive additional support for attending short courses or conferences included in the fellowships. The duration of Professional Fellowships will be between six weeks to three months starting between mid February to mid March 2027. Eligibility Criteria for Commonwealth Fellowships 2027 in the UK:
- Applicants must be citizens of or have refugee status given by an eligible Commonwealth country. (or be a British Protected Person)
- Applicants should be permanently living in an eligible Commonwealth country.
- For applying to the Professional Fellows category, applicants should have at least five years’ work experience in a profession related to the subject of the Fellowships program.
- Academic fellows should have completed their PhD and be employed by a university in a Commonwealth country other than the UK.
- While applying, candidates should be in employment at an organisation that they will return to after completing the fellowship.
- Applicants must provide at least two references (one must be from their current employer).
- Candidates should have not undertaken a Commonwealth Fellowship within the last five years.
- Applicants must be available to take the fellowship during the scheduled dates.
- Candidates should also meet any additional eligibility criteria set out by the individual host organisation.
