ASEF Public Diplomacy Training program in Singapore 2025

Applications for 13th ASEF Public Diplomacy Training Program 2025 are now open! ASEFPDT is a hybrid program offering both virtual learning and in-person training sessions. The online training course will begin from 15 September to 20 October, 2025. Participants can attend this course while staying in their home countries. Participants who will successfully complete the online course will get a chance to attend fully funded training program in Singapore from 1-5 December, 2025. The training sessions will be conducted by public diplomacy trainers and experts.

During the virtual learning program, participants and trainers will interact, and discuss lecture text- making it a collaborative approach. Most of the activities are not time bound so participants can perform them at their own pace. The online training program includes only 1 fixed activity which is a live one hour class meeting. The course will enhance participants’ skills of shaping public opinion regarding Asia-Europe relations. In this year’s edition, participants will also be introduced to AI-assisted tools which can be used in drafting public diplomacy programs.

While attending ASEFPDT13 in-person international training program, participants will analyze case studies and design different strategic campaigns. The 5 days of Face-to-face training in Singapore will help to refine and advance existing knowledge of participants gained during the online course. Participants will have practical interaction with professionals trainers. The global exchange program will also include a cultural tour. This recreational activity will allow participants to know more about the host’s culture and history..

Eligibility Criteria for ASEF Public Diplomacy Training program in Singapore 2025:

  • Applicants can be early or mid-career diplomats in departments working with Asia, Europe, or ASEM in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (or equivalent) in the eligible Asian and European countries.
  • Applicants can be early or mid-career diplomats posted by eligible ASEM Partners to ASEM countries who are dealing with public diplomacy.
  • Eligible countries include Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brunei, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Rep, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Laos PDR, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mongolia,  Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, UK, Vietnam.
  • Applicants must have MA degree or BA degree with minimum 3 years of diplomatic working experience.
  • Applicants must be currently working in the Asia-Europe context.
  • Applicants must have high proficiency in English language.
  • Applicants should have interest in public diplomacy, public affairs, or communications.
  • The time required for online course per week during 5 weeks is 5-7 hours which includes the class meeting time.
  • Participants who will complete the online course will be selected for physical training in Singapore.
