United Arab Emirates University Scholarships and Graduate Assistantships:

1) Graduate Research Assistantship (All nationalities)

Research Assistantships are granted to Graduate Students to work on research projects under the supervision of faculty members. To be eligible for a Research Assistantship, a candidate must first apply to and be accepted in a Master or Doctorate program at UAEU.

Student Eligibility:

  • You need to be an active graduate student at UAEU.
  • You need to have a Good Academic Standing (GPA 3.0/4.0).
  • Have no other financial sponsorship.

Benefits:

  • Monthly stipend. The amount depends on the research grant budget.

Duration:

  • Up to 2 years for Master Students (depending on research grant duration).
  • Up to 4 years for Doctorate Students (depending on research grant duration).

2) Full – Ride Scholarship for Master to Ph.D. (UAE nationals)

The purpose of the “Full Ride Scholarship” is to recruit high achieving Emirati undergraduate students in certain majors at UAEU and provide them with full and continuous financial support to pursue their graduate studies after the Bachelor’s degree through the Master’s and Doctorate degrees at UAEU.

The goal of this program is to increase the number of Emirati students in research-based graduate programs at UAEU and to graduate more Nationals with doctorate degrees and viable research training in areas of strategic relevance to the UAE.

Student Eligibility:

  • Have a GPA of ≥ 3.5/4.0 in Bachelor degree.
  • Have no employment or other financial sponsorship.
  • Enroll in a thesis-based Master’s program that leads into a Ph.D.
  • Have a thesis in one of the UAE priority sectors (Renewable Energy, Transportation, Education, Health, Water, Technology, Space).
  • Meet the Master’s admission requirements.

Benefits:

  • Full tuition waiver.
  • Monthly Stipend.
  • Extra Bonus: Up to AED 1,500 from the supervisor’s research project.

Duration:

  • 6 years (2 for Master and 4 for Ph.D.)

Duties and Expectations:

  • Maintain a GPA of ≥ 3.5 at the Master’s level.
  • Be enrolled full-time (min. of 9 credits/semester) at the Master/Ph.D. level. 
  • Be available at UAEU full-time at the Master/Ph.D. level.

3) Graduate Teaching Assistantship (All nationalities)

Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) are typically full-time graduate students who participate in teaching activities at the university in exchange for financial support.

Student Eligibility:

  • You need to be an active graduate student at UAEU.
  • You need to have a Good Academic Standing (GPA 3.0/4.0).
  • Have no other financial sponsorship.

Benefits:

  • Monthly stipend.

Duration:

  • For a period of one year or less and may be renewed.

Duties and Expectations:

  • Each Assistant is expected to work on the designated assignments.
  • The supervisor is expected to provide the Graduate Teaching Assistant with an oral or written assessment and feedback regarding his/her performance periodically.

The purpose of the “Ph.D. Scholarship” is to recruit high achieving graduate students in certain majors at UAEU and provide them with full and continuous financial support to pursue their graduate studies at UAEU.

  • Have a GPA ≥ 3.5/4.0 in Master degree.
  • Have no employment or other financial sponsorship.
  • Have a dissertation in one of the UAE priority sectors (Renewable Energy, Transportation, Education, Health, Water, Technology, Space).
  • Meet the Ph.D. admission requirements 

Benefits:

  • Full tuition waiver.
  • Monthly Stipend.
  • Health insurance (if needed).
  • Extra Bonus:
    • Up to AED 3,000 from supervisor’s external research project, or.
    • Up to AED 2,000 from supervisor’s internal research project.

Duration:

  • 4 years

Duties and Expectations:

  • Maintain GPA of ≥ 3.3 at the Ph.D. level.
  • Be enrolled full-time (min. of 9 credits/semester) at the Ph.D. level.
