Applicants are invited for PhD scholarship in Integrated Computational Modelling for International Students. The PhD position is part of a research project on mixed interstitials in titanium-based systems.
The aim of the scholarship is to obtain a deeper understanding of adding interstitial to the titanium-based system.

Responsibilities and tasks
The overall project seeks to obtain a deeper understanding of adding interstitials to titanium-based systems. The PhD project will contribute to this task. The research activities will be conducted in close collaboration with another PhD student, senior staff and project partners. The PhD will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • CALPHAD modelling of titanium-based systems containing interstitials using ThermoCalc and MatCalc.
  • Fundamental experiments: Synthesis of interstitial phases in the titanium system, which will serve as input to the modelling activities.
  • Kinetics modelling: Programming of finite difference models for coupled evolution of diffusion and stress profiles for titanium-based graded interstitial systems.
