Research Areas:
Starting from novel nano-materials such as 2D materials, we aim to understand their fundamental properties and develop future devices having unique performances.
1. Convergence engineering for Flexible and Stretchable Future Devices
+ Device applications for Smart-Textronics (textile-based electronic devices)
i. Fiber-type energy conversion/storage devices
ii.Chemical sensors
+ Novel actuators for Soft Robotics
i. Super-coiled actuators
ii. Thermal management of soft actuators
iii. Energy conversion using soft actuators
+ Transparent, flexible, and stretchable acoustic or haptic devices
2. Fundamental Characterization of 2D Materials
+ Mechanical measurements at micro/nano-scale
+ Interfacial fracture and adhesion properties of 2D materials
+ Electro-mechanical properties of nano-materials
+ Thermal and electrical properties of 2D materials and their composites
3. Scalable Nano-Manufacturing of 2D Materials
+ Chemical vapor deposition
+ Liquid-phase exfoliation
+ Hybrid nano-materials with 3D architectures
4. Multi-Physics Simulation
+ Continuum-level analysis of micro/nano-devices having mechanical, electrical, thermal, fluidic, or acoustic behaviors
